Mosaic and trencadís

In this workshop we will explore our creativity individually and as a group. With the previous experiences of the community artworks created by La Gloria Factoría de Arte, Nevenka and Vero will guide us both in the creation of our own individual pieces that we will take home, as well as in the participation in a community artwork that, once finished, will be exhibited at Diógenes.

During November each participant will make an individual piece to take home. First we will be introduced to Mexican culture, its designs, colors and traditions, then we will choose the format of the piece and begin to design, it can be Day of the Dead skulls, watermelons and flowers inspired in Frida Kahlo or any interest each person has about Mexico. We will explore the techniques of trencadís, pixel and artistic recycling.

Starting in January the workshop will be offered on a quarterly basis. We will learn to play with the pixel technique and Gaudí's "trencadís" mosaic, combining tiles, plates and ceramic pieces of all kinds. We will also use recycled materials and small pieces that we will create ourselves with phrases and personal drawings of each participant; these will be put in dialogue within our great community artwork.

Throughout these months, we will visit La Gloria Factoría de Arte as well as some of the association's urban artworks.

This workshop is a fun and enriching experience because it allows us to express ourselves through art and, at the same time, to make a community group. In Diógenes and in La Gloria Factoría de Arte we believe in community art as an engine for transformation and social cohesion; therefore we encourage you to join us in this creative adventure, whether you are a child studying in elementary school, as if you are an elderly person or any neighbor from the city. We want to break down barriers and build bridges through collaborative art projects that bring us together with affection and enthusiasm, with care and respect.

Our intergenerational workshops are open to the participation of children, youth and adults, including elderly. It is a space for coexistence and enjoyment where ages are mixed, learning from each other and seeing each other as equals while participating side by side.

Pre-registration is needed, so please write us or give us a call.
